Standard Chartered Bank announces the selection of 10 female-led startups to participate in the fifth cohort of the “SC Women in Tech” program and proceed to the 8-week incubation period



Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain; ​June 3, 2024 - Standard Chartered Bahrain, in partnership with Bahrain FinTech Bay, announces the selection of the top 10 female-led startups for the 5th cohort of the Standard Chartered Women in Tech Bahrain Program. Strategic partners include the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), The Labour Fund (Tamkeen), Supreme Council for Women (SCW), United Nations Industrial Development Organization Investment and Technology Promotion Office, in Bahrain (UNIDO ITPO Bahrain). The Women in Tech Bahrain Incubation Program aims to support female entrepreneurs in Bahrain, enabling them to expand and develop innovative solutions for the Kingdom. To date, the program has supported over 40 local startups through mentorship, with 16 startups receiving prize money totaling over USD 230,000.


Ten female-led Bahraini startups were selected to proceed to the 8-week incubation period where they will receive training and mentorship to elevate their business solutions. The selection event was held at Bahrain FinTech Bay in the presence of Noora Al-Nusuf, Head of Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing, Bahrain & the Middle East (ex UAE) at Standard Chartered Bank, Bader Sater, CEO of Bahrain FinTech Bay, Eng. Mariam Jumaan, Member of the Supreme Council for Women, Mohamed Al-Subaiee, Director of Innovate for Bahrain, Zain Ghareeb, Analyst - Fintech and Innovation Unit at the Central Bank of Bahrain, Faisal Alahmed, Senior Officer - Enterprise Programs, Programs & Partnership Development at Tamkeen, and Ameer Hassan Abubakr, National Investment Promotion Expert at UNIDO ITPO Bahrain.


The ten female-led startups shortlisted to participate through the 8-week long program focus on various verticals such as:


  • E-Sports

  • B2B Marketplace

  • Food Technology (FoodTech)

  • Education Technology (Ed-Tech)

  • HR & Employee Wellness

  • Event Management Platform

  • Restaurant Management Software

  • Health Technology (Health-Tech)

  • Loyalty and Rewards


During the intensive 8-week incubation phase, the program will have 10 female founders receiving mentorship from Bahrain FinTech Bay and various subject-matter experts in the Kingdom. They will also have access to workshops on critical aspects of building and growing a tech startup, pitch practice sessions, and be part of the Women in Tech alumni community, enabling them to refine their business strategies and capitalize on business opportunities in the current business environment, leading up to the demo day finale by the end of the summer.
